William Morris - 20.1.17

Our Artist of the term is called William Morris. Lots of us found out facts through our Home Learning this week as well as in Topic.
"William Morris lived in the Victorian times" - Theo

"He loved the outdoors and used it as inspiration for his wallpaper" - Beth
"He likes to draw flowers" - Delilah

We have used William Morris' work as inspiration for our art this week. We have learnt different pencil techniques (hatching, contour hatching and cross hatching) and experimented using them when sketching flowers. We have created our own wallpaper using floral patterns. We mixed different shades of earthy colours to use on our wallpaper.

In Maths, we have been learning time. We have been learning O'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We know that there are 60 minutes in an hour and we have practised counting in 5s around the clock to tell the time.

In English we have been learning a new Jewish traditional tale called 'The blue coat'. We have been looking for story language and repeated phrases within the text.

We have begun tennis in games and practised keeping the ball controlled this week.

Tina has taken home Night for her 'can do' attitude towards her work. Well done to Delilah for becoming Star of the week for working well as a team during Gym.

  3. It sounds as though you had a great week, Maple. I enjoyed doing Creative Writing with you and reading the interesting ideas you had for your own stories. Mrs McLellan
